Crochet Tombliboo Ooo

One of our favourite shows on Cbeebies is In the Night Garden. For Leyla's 1st birthday I made her an Upsy Daisy cake and for Naomie's birthday on Monday I made her a Tombliboo Ooo cake. I also decided to make her a cute little Tombliboo Ooo stuffy but after searching the internet for aaaages, I couldnt find a crochet pattern. I nearly gave up but then thought it couldn't be too difficult to make my own, very simplified version.

I used DK yarn and a 4mm crochet hook.

Legs:
1. using brown yarn make a magic ring, ch3, 11dcs in ring, join with sl st to top of ch3 (12)
2-4. ch3, dc around, join with sl st to top of ch3, bind off, weave in ends
5-8. repeat rows 1-4 for second leg, BUT don't bind off

Body:
9. ch1, sc in same st and next 12sts, line up other leg next to first leg and without joining, sc in first st on second leg, sc in next 12 sts, join to 1st sc on first leg
10-12. ch 3, turn, skip st at base of ch3, dc around, join with sl st to top of ch3 (26)
13. join pink yarn, ch1, turn, sc in same st and around, join with sl st to 1st sc (26)
14. ch3, turn, skip st at base of ch3, dc around, join with sl st to top of ch3
15. ch1, turn, sc in same st and around, join with sl st to 1st sc
16. join brown yarn, ch1, turn, sc in same st and around, join with sl st to 1st sc (26)
17. ch3, turn, skip st at base of ch3, dc around, join with sl st to top of ch3
18. ch1, turn, sc in same st and around, join with sl st to 1st sc
19. join pink yarn, ch1, turn, sc in same st and next st, *sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts* rep around, join with sl st to 1st sc (20)
20. ch3, turn, skip st at base of ch3, *dc2tog, dc in next st* rep around, end with dc2tog in last st and base of ch3, join with sl st to top of ch3 (14)
21. STUFF BODY - I didn't stuff mine too much as I wanted it to be slightly 2 dimensional still to make it easier for my little girl to carry it around with her, I used strips of brown velour material since I didn't want the stuffing to show through the dcs and that was all I had on hand that was brown.
22. ch1, sc2tog around, join with sl st top 1st sc (7)
23. ch1, turn, sc2tog around, join with sl st to 1st sc, bind off, leave enough yarn to stitch head on with (4)

Head:
24. using cream yarn make a magic ring, ch1, 6scs in ring, join with sl st to 1st sc (6)
25. ch1, turn, 2scs in each st, join with sl st to 1st sc (12)
26. ch1, turn, sc in 1st st, *2scs in next st, sc in next st* rep around, join with sl st to 1st sc (18)
27. ch1, turn, sc in 1st 2 sts, *2scs in next st, sc in next 2 sts* rep around, join with sl st to 1st sc (24)
28. ch1, turn, sc in 1st 3 sts, *2scs in next st, sc in next 3 sts* rep around, join with sl st to 1st sc (30)
29-34. ch1, turn, sc around, join with sl st to 1st sc (30)
35. ch1, turn, sc in 1st 3 sts, *sc2tog, sc in next 3 sts* rep around, join with sl st to 1st sc (24)
36. ch1, turn, sc in 1st 2 sts, *sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts* rep around, join with sl st to 1st sc (18)
37. ch1, turn, sc in 1st st, *sc2tog, sc in next st* rep around, join with sl st to 1st sc (12)
38. STUFF HEAD - I used cut up white vests that my babies have grown out of.
39. ch1, turn, sc2tog around, join with sl st to 1st sc, bind off and weave in ends (6)
40. using the leftover tail on the body, stitch the head onto the body, weave in ends

Arms:
41. using cream yarn make a magic ring, ch1, 6scs in ring, join with sl st to 1st sc (6)
42. ch1, turn, *sc in next st, 2scs in next st*, rep around, join with sl st to 1st sc (9)
43-45. ch1, turn, sc around, join with sl st to 1st sc
46. join brown yarn, ch3, turn, dc around, join with sl st to top of ch3
47. ch1, turn, sc around, join with sl st to 1st sc
48. join pink yarn, ch3, turn, dc around, join with sl st to top of ch3
49. ch1, turn, sc around, join with sl st to 1st sc, bind off leaving a long enough tail to stitch to body
50-58. repeat for other arm
59. STUFF ARMS - I used brown velour again and stuffed them quite lightly because I didn't want them to be too hard
60. stitch onto body and weave in ends

Head dots (make 5):
60. using brown yarn make a magic ring, ch1, 6scs in ring, join with sl st to 1st sc (6)
61. ch1, turn, sc around, join with sl st to 1st sc
62. bind off then, using the tail, gather the bottom of each circle to make a dot, sew on to the head using the tail, weave in ends

Finishing:
64. embroider a face on using black yarn

Fake Febreze

On my travels around the many craft blogs on the internet, I stumbled across Homemade Mamas and found this!! Fake Febreze!! I hate buying febreze because it is soo expensive and I don't really like the smell of the cheaper one you can get here. I figured with this you can make it any 'flavour' you want!!

Fake Febreze Recipe

Having found this post at The Peaceful Housewife, I would definitely make my own fabric softener for this. I suffer really bad ezcema and am always looking for natural cleaning products since the chemical ones really hurt my hands!

Mimie's Baby Blanket

I made this blanket for Naomie when I was still pregnant with her. It's my favourite thing I've made for her I think, she uses it every day still, it's her magic blanket :)

I used cotton yarn (baby pink and hot pink) and a 4mm hook.

To make it, I just made a giant granny square, changing the colour every 4 rounds. I did 32 rounds altogether, finished with a row of sc in the same colour as the first 4 rounds.

I think Leyla likes it aswell, she's chief blanket getter-er, whenever I lose it I ask Leyla where it is and she trots off and brings it to me xD

Baby Flower Beanie (3 months)

A friend of mine asked me to make one of these for her friends bump so I whipped it up today. I think it turned out pretty cute :)

Since the baby is not born as of yet, I had to guess the size a bit. After getting a bit of help from google, I decided to make it a 14.5" circumference to fit a 16" head. I'm not brilliant at maths so I used google again to find out the diameter of a 14.5" circle. Turns out the diameter is 4.6" so I went with that. For the length I measured the hat as I was making it up against a hat I had for my babies when they were tiny. It ended up being 6" from top to bottom. Hope it fits!

You will need: 3.5mm crochet hook, 4.5mm crochet hook, DK yarn and yarn needle.

Size: This will fit around 3 months, although you can easily make it bigger by adding extra length and extra increase rows after row 6.

Gauge:  At end of round 6, circle should measure 4.6" across the middle.

1: using main colour and 3.5mm hook, make a magic ring, tutorial here, ch1, work sc into ring, ch1 (counts as first dc), work 9dcs in ring, join with sl st to ch1 on top of first sc (10)
2. ch1, turn, sc in first st, ch1 (counts as first dc), dc in same st, work 2dcs in each st around, join with sl st to ch1 on top of first sc (20)
3. ch1, turn, sc in first st, ch1 (counts as first dc), dc in same st, *dc in next st, 2dcs in next st* repeat around, dc in last st, join with sl st to ch1 on top of first sc (30)
4. ch1, turn, sc in first st, ch1 (counts as first dc), dc in same st, *dc in next 2 sts, 2dcs in next st* repeat around, dc in last 2sts, join with sl st to ch1 on top of first sc (40)
5. ch1, turn, sc in first st, ch1 (counts as first dc), dc in same st, *dc in next 3 sts, 2dcs in next st* repeat around, dc in last 3sts, join with sl st to ch1 on top of first sc (50)
6. ch1, turn, sc in first st, ch1 (counts as first dc), dc in same st, *dc in next 4 sts, 2dcs in next st* repeat around, dc in last 4sts, join with sl st to ch1 on top of first sc (60)
7-14. ch1, turn, sc in first st, ch1 (counts as first dc), dc in each st around, join with sl st to ch1 on top of first sc (60)
15. join second colour, ch1, turn, sc in first st, ch1 (counts as first dc), dc in each st around, join with sl st to ch1 on top of first sc (60)
16. ch2, turn, *fpdc around first stitch, bpdc around second stitch* repeat around, join with sl st to 1st fpdc, bind off and weave in ends

Big flower -
1: using contrasting colour and 4.5mm hook, make a magic ring, tutorial here, ch1 and work (sc into the ring, ch3) 6 times, finish with slst in 1st sc.
2: ch1, (sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc) in each ch3 space around, join with slst in 1st sc. Bind off and weave in ends.

Small flower-
Repeat the big flower but use a 3.5mm hook and main colour yarn instead.

Sew the small flower on top of the big flower then attach to your hat wherever you fancy it.

Thread the ribbon through the loop on the back of the sandal and do a couple of stitches to stop it being pulled out. Or leave it if you would like to change the colour of ribbon to match different outfits! Tie it around your baby's ankle. You're done!! :D
