Preemie blanket

When sorting through all of my 3ply baby yarn to find some suitable yarn to make the preemie hats, I was amazed by how much I actually had! Quite a lot of it went on the hats I made, but I still had sooo much left so I decided to make a little blanket with one of the leftover balls. The blanket ended up being approx 13.5" square.

To make this blanket you will need: 6mm crochet hook, 3ply baby yarn, small amount of contrasting yarn, wool needle.

1. ch50, dc in 4th ch from hook and across (48)
2. ch3, turn, sk st at base of ch3, dc across, ending with dc in top of ch3 (48)
3-26. rep row 2 until blanket is length needed, joining contrasting yarn in the last st of the last row
27. ch3, do not turn, 2dc in same st, ch1, work 3dcs in same st (corner made), work 2dcs in each row down until you reach the next corner, work 3dcs, ch1, 3dcs in corner st, dc across to next corner, work 3dcs, ch1, 3dcs in corner st, work 2dcs in each row up until you reach the last corner, work 3dcs, ch1, 3dcs in corner st, dc across, join with sl st to top of ch3, bind off and weave in ends.

Obviously this blanket can be made bigger by adding rows and adding chains at the beginning.
